Women cops from stations resist Sabarimala duty; AR camp staff picked

While Supreme Court verdict might be all-binding however, fear to violate ancient tradition holds on, with women cops in several police stations saying no to duty at Pampa and Sanidhanam.

Govt has begun preparations to implement SC order that lifted the age bar on women entering Sabarimala. Trivandrum Range IG Manoj Abraham is in charge of security and plans have been charted to deploy women cops two days before upcoming monthly pooja.

The Intelligence wing of police however handed down input on how females at police stations are resisting the duty. The top officers then began their pick from three AR camps in the State.

Three teams comprising 20 police personnel including tow DySPs, four CIs and 15 SIs will be positioned at Pampa and Sannidhanam.

Women cops will now for the first time be stationed at the sacred 18-steps leading to the famed shrine.
