Surendran firm to stick to Manjeshwaram election case

Kochi : Responding to High Court query on his stand, BJP Kerala general secretary K Surendran today said he plans to go ahead with the case and prove vote manipulation by the deceased MLA.

The bench then adjourned the hearing to 3 December.

Surendran had filed petition claim that the sitting MLA and IUML cndidate PB Abdul Razak secured election victory through fraudulent means. He claimed that 259 votes that 63-yer-old Razak got were from the ‘deceased and NRI votes’, in a victory margin that was mere 89.

The court heard testimonies from 167 witnesses, while another 67 have been summoned.

Surendran expressed confidence in court  invalidating the results, that will then see him as the winner.

The Election Commission has meanwhile stated that it will come out with a decision after the High Court verdict.
