Sabarimala pilgrim’s body found in forest; BJP calls hartal in Pathanamthitta

Pathanamthitta : Alleging it as death caused during police action against protest in Sabarimala, BJP has called hartal in Pathanamthitta today, after body of 60-year-old devotee Sivadasan, was found in the forest near Kambthumvalavu in Plapally on Thursday.

He had left home on 18 October to visit the shrine during 5 days Thulam month pooja held at the temple between 17 – 21 October.

When he failed to return home, relatives filed a missing complaint at police stations at Pampa, Nilakkal and Perunad on 21 Oct.

The body was been found during search carried out his relatives, at the forest near Kambakathumvalavu.

Incidentally, Sivadasan had participated in Namajapa Yatra taken out from Pandalam against govt decision to implement the controversial Supreme Court verdict.

BJP state president PS Sreedharan slammed chief minister over the incident saying it was time for the Pinarayi Vijayan to handover Home portfolio to someone more accountable. “Sivadasan was riding a bicycle with picture of Lord Ayypapa, when police attacked and beat him to death,” Pillai alleged.

Police Version
District police chief T Narayanan meanwhile dismissed the claims as baseless. The police crackdown on protesters took place on 16 and 17 October and the deceased set out from his house only on 18 October, he said.

Also his body was found at Laha, whereas the lathi-charge took place at Nlakkal, he added.
