Kochi : The Kerala High Court came down heavily on govt today, asking who gave it authority to restrain devotees at Sannidhanam(temple complex). The court asked IG to appear before today itself.
Implementing Supreme Court verdict cannot be used as shield to take devotees captive and prevent pilgrims from staying at Sannidhanam, the bench said.
The Court also directed govt to refrain from interfering with KSRTC bus services to Pampa.
HC asked the govt to submit the list of police officers on duty at Sabarimla and sought clarification on whether the officers were trained to tackle crowds.
Last night police agreed to devotees demand that they be allowed to last at the Sannidhanam till the shrine shuts. However after the closure devotees refused to leave and police arrested them en masse.
