ATK Mohun Bagan all set to sign Finnish midfielder Joni kauko

Finnish midfielder Joni kauko, who is playing in the ongoing  Euro cup now joins Indian Super League club ATK Mohun Bagan.

 Kauko started his professional career in 2008  with the Finnish club Inter Turku.  Kauko has represented Finland in 25 international matches, including the opening two EURO 2020 league games in progress. He came on in the 76th minute in their 1-0 win over Denmark, a country where he plays his football club. Kauko plays for Esbjerg fB. In the second game against Russia, he came on in the 67th minute but found himself on the wrong side of the scoresheet as Finland lost 0-1.

He has appeared in a total of 331 club matches and has scored 38 goals so far. The 30-year-old, who has played for Finland’s Under-16, Under-18, Under-19, and Under-21 teams, has played 27 times for the senior team.

 ATK Mohun Bagan was the best in the league in terms of defense as they conceded only 18 goals in 23 games. The team were also stellar in front of goal with club captain Roy Krishna leading from the front scoring 14 goals and registering 8 assists.

The midfielder was a regular member of the Finland U18 & 21 team before making it to the senior team. The player made his senior team debut in a friendly against the Trinidad and Tobago national football team. Kauko still continues to be a member of the team but has largely remained as an unused substitute. The player has made only 15 competitive appearances to date.
