’The Great Indian Kitchen’ to Release in Japan; Sold rights

After gaining huge popularity in India, ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ is all set to release in theaters in Japan. The film was released on Amazon Prime and garnered critical acclaim and awards.

The film is set to release in Japan 5 months after its release. Producer Jomon Jacob announced that the distribution rights for the film in Japan had been sold out earlier but due to the Covid crisis the release had delayed.

The film was released on Neestream before being released on Amazon Prime. Producer Jomon Jacob said that shortly after the OTT release of the film, various film agents approached him for screenings for the film. He said the film was selected for the Shanghai Festival and was later released in Japan.

The film will be released in the Spectrum Alternatives category and will be screened in Japan Local Theaters with Japanese Subtitles. The decision on the date of release has not made yet.

Meanwhile, the film is currently available on Neestream, Amazon Prime, and eight other OT platforms. The film will be screened on CinemaPraner, Filmy, Good Show, Saina Play, Limelight Media, Cave, Roots Video, and more. The film will soon be available on Book My Show’s streaming platform. The manufacturer says it is also in talks with some other platforms.
