China to start first electric train service in Tibet

China is all set to start a  new venture -An electric train in service Tibet.

The service runs from Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, to Ningchi, which is close to Arunachal Pradesh.

The path which is 435.5 kilometers in length, will be flagged off on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the ruling communist party of China. 

This is the second train service to Tibet. At present, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Service is available in Tibet. It will go through the southeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, one of the world’s most geologically active areas.

The Sichuan-Tibet Railway starts from Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, and travels through Ya’an and enters Tibet via Qamdo, shortening the journey from Chengdu to Lhasa from 48 hours to 13 hours.

Chinese president had said that the new electric train venture would enhance border security. China claims Arunachal Pradesh as part of Tibet but India firmly rejected this statement. However, the dispute between the two countries still exists.
