India-Srilanka ODI series to start on July 18 after Covid-19 cases in SL camp: Sourav Ganguly

The upcoming limited-overs series between Sri Lanka and India will start from July 18, confirmed BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

The series, which was originally scheduled to start with the three ODIs on July 13, had to be rescheduled. The decision was taken after Sri Lanka’s batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst G T Niroshan tested positive for the coronavirus.

“India-Sri Lanka ODI series to start on July 18 due to COVID-19 outbreak in-home team camp,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told PTI. The three ODI matches will now be held on July 18, 20, and 23. It will be conducted at the Premadasa Stadium followed by the T20 Internationals, starting on July 25.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has spoken to Sri Lanka Cricket chairman Shammi Shiraj Silva and expressed concerns over the virus breach in their bio-bubble.

The Lankan board is yet to get back to Shah and will either have to put together a new team for the ODIs or defer the series by a few days.
