Novak Djokovic wins Wimbledon men’s singles; Roger Federer, Sachin Tendulkar congratulates champion on Twitter

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic wins the Wimbledon men’s singles title with a four-set victory over battling Matteo Berrettini of Italy.

Djokovic now holds the record for most Grand Slam trophies by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Having dropped just two sets throughout the fortnight, world No.1 produced a masterclass in the final to win it 6-7,6-4,6-4,6-3 on Centre Court.

Following his win, the Serbian great received massive praise from the sports community around the world. Congratulating Novak, Roger Federer wrote on Instagram “Congrats Novak on your 20th major. I’m proud to have the opportunity to play in a special era of tennis champions. Wonderful performance, well done!”. Sachin Tendulkar also tweeted on Twitter congratulating Novak.

Djokovic has now won 85 career titles. He turned pro in 2003. Overall, he now has nine Australian Open, six Wimbledon, and three US Open titles to his name.

It was also Novak’s 30th Grand Slam final. By this victory, he won his hat-trick of Grand Slam titles at Wimbledon this year.
