It’s a record…; Sanju Samson waited 2196 days to debut for ODI

Malayalee star Sanju Samson holds the record for the longest wait between a T20I and an ODI debut.

Sanju made his record debut in the last ODI against Sri Lanka. Sanju has broken West Indies’ Ashley Nurse record.

Sanju had to wait for 2196 days between his T20 ODI debuts. He made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe on July 19, 2015, and will make his ODI debut on July 23, 2021, against Sri Lanka. Ashley Nurse, who made her T20I debut against Pakistan in 2011, made her ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2016, 2036 days later.

Five players including Sanju will make their debut in the team today. Along with Sanju, Rahul Chahar, Nitish Rana, Chetan Zakaria, and Krishnappa Gautam will make their debuts. Along with this, Navdeep Saini also joined the team. Ishant Kishan, Krunal Pandya, Deepah Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yusvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been given rest for India.
