In collaboration with the luxury sunglasses and eyeglasses brand Ray-Ban, the social media tech giant is preparing to launch its smart glasses soon. The launch has been decided to be conducted on September 9 and it has posted a teaser on its US website regarding the same.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the introduction of the spectacles and its partnership with this company earlier at the 2021 Q2 Facebook earnings call. Zuckerberg said, “glasses have an iconic form factor, and they let you do some pretty neat things.” However, more information regarding the specification is not known and is not revealed by Facebook and Ray-Ban yet.
“The product established by the collaboration of companies is part of the company’s journey towards full augmented reality glasses in the future and more advanced AR glasses are also in the works,” said Facebook CEO. The glasses may enable a digital voice assistant but rumor is that it might not feature an integrated display. Apart from this, the users will also be able to link it with their cellphones. With this, users can take calls, show information on the small screen, and share the live stream from the wearer’s point of view to followers and friends. Although more other specs are not known, it is heard that Facebook Smart Glasses would work similarly to Snap Spectacles and Amazon Echo. Nevertheless, updates on the price range of this product are not revealed as of yet.
