96 countries accepted India’s Covishield and Covaxin: Union Health Minister

Almost 96 countries have approved to recognize India’s Covaxin and Covishield which have been received emergency use listing (EUL) from the World Health Organisation, said Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

“At present, 96 countries have agreed to mutual recognition of vaccination certificates and also those who recognize Indian vaccination certificates of travelers fully vaccinated with Covishield/WHO approved/nationally approved Covid vaccines,” union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

The 96 nations that have decided to recognize the vaccines include  Canada, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Bangladesh, Mali, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Angola, Nigeria, Benin, Chad, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Finland. The decision came after the historic achievement of India, that 100 crores Covid vaccination dose. So far the country has administered over 109 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses. “The ministry of health along with the ministry of external affairs is in continuous communication with all countries for mutual recognition of vaccine certificates, and WHO and nationally approved vaccines to facilitate uninterrupted or easy international travel across countries,” the minister said.
