24 Chief Reporter V. A Gireesh wins Dr. B.R. Ambedkar media award

24 Chief reporter V. A Gireesh bagged Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Media Award for the best report that aimed at the welfare of the scheduled castes. He won the award for the series ‘Thattipalla Thanikolla’. 

The series is about the snatching of petrol pumps and gas agencies allotted by reservation for the socially backward Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the state. Hundreds of petrol pumps and gas agencies across the state have lost their original owners due to this. Following the series, the Central Government and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes had intervened in the matter.

Kerala government has announced Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Media Awards where awards for different categories also took their respective positions on the same day. The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and a trophy will be presented on December 6 at 4 pm at the Thrissur Press Club and will be distributed by minister K. Radhakrishnan.
