New Coronavirus variant, ‘IHU’ detected in France

A new virus variant called ‘IHU’ has been found in France and the discovery was done at the beginning of the year 2022. The B.1.640.2 variant was discovered at the institute IHU Mediterranee Infection and as per the belief of Researchers, it contains 46 mutations. This has more mutations than the Omicron variant of Covid-19, said, researchers.

As of January 4, at least 12 cases of the new variant have been reported near Marseille, related to travel to the African country of Cameroon. As per reports, the variant can be identified using careful PCR analysis of signals that are different from Delta and Omicron. The B.1.640.2 has not been reported in other countries or labeled a variant under investigation by the World Health Organization (WHO).
