“I’m sorry for endorsing tobacco product”: Akshay Kumar apologizes and steps down as tobacco brand ambassador 

Recently Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has been trolled for taking part in a pan masala ad and soon after the storm on social media, the actor decided to step down as the tobacco brand ambassador and he apologized for the same via his official post, The Times Of India reported.

The Instagram profile of Akshay Kumar flooded with comments soon after he posted his apology letter to the public. “I am sorry. I would like to apologize to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me.”While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi,” the post read.

Moreover, he added, ”With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return, I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes. Akshay Kumar.”

Akshay Kumar will not be the brand ambassador of the recently signed tobacco company. Akshay Kumar took the decision to step down as the brand ambassador of a tobacco company following the same decision by Bollywood superstars Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan. Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan came in the ad of the firm recently and after fans were outraged at their star’s boost for the product, the stars decided to step down.

Meanwhile, when the controversy went on air, an old video of Akshay speaking on a public platform circa 2018 about the same has also surfaced on the social media. The actor, however, did not mention what’s the duration of the contract for the Vimal Elaichi ad.
