More than half of Americans including 3 out of 4 children have had Covid-19: CDC Report

More than half the population of America showed the presence of the deadly coronavirus in the body, a recently released report said. More than half of the Americans and three out of four children have had shoed the symptoms of Covid-19 which started spreading to the world in 2020. The data has been suggested in a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC).

The report was submitted after the CDC’s detailed examination of the blood samples collected from around 200,000 Americans. During the analysis, the researchers found that the symptoms of Covid-19 infection surged to a certain level and it was mainly detected during the omicron variant’s surge in the US.

When researchers identified the surge in antibodies at that time, they first believed that it was because of the vaccine effect but later the study found that it was because of the infection surge. In December 2021, 34 percent of Americans of all ages showed signs of a previous infection. Within two months, it had risen to 58 percent.

Besides adults, the surge in infections among the children also led researchers to go ahead with a blood sample test included in the study. The CDC who submitted the report said, there is a complete list of trajectory or the path of the virus that spread in the US. “We’re of course continuing to follow trends in positive PCR tests, and have also looked at data on a selected share of rapid tests. The trends are largely similar,” said CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky.

The report also found that the symptoms of the infection were less in elderly people. This is due to factors such as high vaccination rates and a high tendency to adopt protective and preventive measures such as mask use.
