Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an event in London auctioned his popular signed Khaki fleece which he wore while walking through the streets for 90000 pounds which is around 85 lakhs Indian rupees. He has done the jacket auction not to earn money to spend on his luxury, but to support the war-hit country.
The auction took place at the “Brave Ukraine” fundraiser event organized at Tate Modern in London. After praising Zelenskyy’s move to raise funds to bring Ukriane back to life British PM Boris Johnson said, ”Our support for Ukraine is unwavering, and we must do everything we can to help Ukraine defend itself and ease the burden of suffering on innocent Ukrainians.”
As per the report from News18, the starting price of Zelensky’s famous jacket was 50,000 pounds and then Johnson urged buyers to bid more on the wool, which was personally signed by the Ukrainian president.
The auction included toys donated by Selensky’s wife, Olena and around Rs, 8 crores have been raised. It is said that the amount aggregated from the auction would be used to renovate a children’s hospital in the UK. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was also present at the auction.
