Elon Musk to reverse Twitter ban of Donald Trump; Former CEO Jack Dorsey agrees with Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk in his speech at the Financial Times Future of the Car conference said he would reverse Twitter’s ban on former U.S. President Donald Trump.  Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey came forward supporting the billionaire’s word and the support by Jack Dorsey is a surprise move as Donald trump’s account was permanently banned last year while Jack Dorsey was in rule, India Today reported.

Elon Musk has taken this decision because, at the very first beginning of his Twitter acquisition, he said his intention was to make the social media site a platform for free speech. Therefore he thinks it is the right time to take back the ban on Donald Trump. Musk,  who has called himself a “free speech absolutist,” recently inked a $44 billion deal to acquire the social media platform.

Speaking at an auto conference on May 10, the CEO of Tesla said that banning Trump from Twitter following the January 6, 2021 riots in the U.S. capital was a “morally bad decision” and “extremely foolish”. Trump had  88 million followers on Twitter before the ban. Musk, called the ban of Trump’s account an incitement of violence and said his views about all the new moves on Twitter.

Trump on the other hand said that he would not return to Twitter even if Musk purchases the platform and reinstates his account, and said he would use his own social media app called Truth Social, which launched on the Apple app store in late February but was glitchy until more recently when it began letting more users in.

Moreover, as per the report by Forbes, it is noted how Elon Musk is going to pay for Twitter. A filing on May 5 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) lists the organizations that are supporting Musk’s plans to finance the acquisition of Twitter.
