The results of the 52nd Kerala State Film Awards has been announced on May 27, honoring the best of Kerala’s cinema and artists from the year 2021. Joju George (Madhuram, Nayattu) and Biju Menon(Aarkkariyam) share the Best Actor award whereas Revathi was selected as the Best Actress for her performance in ‘Bhoothakaalam’.
Meanwhile, the Best Director award went to Dileesh Pothan for the movie “Joji”. The award for Best film went to ‘Avaasavyooham’, and the popular film award went to Vineeth Srinivasan’s romantic hit movie ‘Hridayam’.
This time, Mohanlal, Mammotty, Dulquer Salman, Pranav Mohanlal, Fahad Fazil, Suresh Gopi, Prithviraj, Jayasurya, Tovino Thomas, Chemban Vinod, Kunjacko Boban, Asif Ali were on the list of award expectations. The competition was tough and the jury members found it difficult to come to a final conclusion. The jury has also considered Indrans’ performance in the film Home. What is special about this time is that all the leading stars of Malayalam cinema were there for the race. Never before have so many star films lined up for the award.
The jury was chaired by Indian screenwriter Saeed Akhtar Mirza. The awards were announced by Saji Cheriyan, the Minister of Culture at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram.
Best Movie – Avasavyooham, Best popular movie – Hridayam,Best Actors – Biju Menon(Aarkkariyam) and Joju George(Nayattu, Madhuram), Best Actress – Revathy(Bhoothakalam), Best Director – Dileesh Pothan (Joji), Best Singer (female)- Sithara Krishnakumar(Kanekane), Best Singer (male)- Pradeep (Minnal Murali), Best character actor – Sumesh Moor (Kala), Best character actress – (Unnimaya), Best music director – Hisham (Hridayam), Best Scriptwriter(Adoption) – Syam Pushkar(Joji).
