First time in history…Cancer vanishes for 12 rectal patients in a drug trial

It appears like a miracle but what you heard is right…for the first time in history, a small clinical trial has found that every single rectal cancer patient who received an experimental treatment survived from cancer cells. A group of patients experienced something of a miracle as their cancer simply vanished after experimental treatment.

According to a report, in the small clinical trial, 18 patients took a drug called Dostarlimab for around six months, and in the end, every one of them saw their tumors disappear. An Indian-origin patient was among those who had a “miracle” cure. The history has been created at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) of Manhattan in New York City, US. “It indeed a miracle”, Nisha Varughese said about the immunotherapy drug’s efficacy in curing her.

“In the trial at the hospital, rectal cancer disappeared after immunotherapy without the need for the standard treatments of radiation, surgery, or chemotherapy and cancer has not returned in any of the patients, who have been cancer-free for up to two years,” the hospital officials said.

When the drug Dostarlimab was injected into all 18 rectal cancer patients, cancer completely vanished in every patient. After the drug treatment, no patient was given any other treatments. The patients who were going through painful chemotherapy, radiation sessions, or surgeries also got relieved from these treatments after the drug.

The findings are now making waves in the medical world. Speaking to the media outlet, Dr Alan P. Venook, who is a colorectal cancer specialist at the University of California said, “it is the first time in the history of medical science and the results are impressive as it has not created any negative impact in the patients in any way.”
