90% of Indians are vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus: Union Minister

Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in his latest statement made it clear that around 90% of Indians are so far vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus. According to the central health ministry, the total number of vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 198 crores. The minister made the announcement on July 4 and till that time, more than 10 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the country, The News Minutes reported.

“Vaccination gives immunity, provides safety to the community. India’s cumulative vaccination coverage crosses 198.19 Crore. More than 8 lakh Vaccine doses were administered today till 7 pm,” the Health ministry tweeted on July 4. 

Moreover, health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said “What an extraordinary feat! With PM @NarendraModi Ji’s mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Prayas, India achieves complete vaccination of 90% of its adult population. 90% Indians are vaccinated against the Covid-19 which is a landmark milestone. Way to go! We will win the battle against the pandemic together!”

The ministry said that so far, 6,057,990 precaution doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered to those in the 18-59 age group. Over 3.69 crore children in the 12-14 age group have been administered the first dose and more than 6.05 crore adolescents in the 15-18 age group have been given the first dose, it said.

On the other hand, India registered 16,159 new Covid cases and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 5,25,270. The active caseload stands at 1,15,212. Compared to other states in India, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala West Bengal, and Karnataka are the states with a high number covid-19 cases in India.
