A new privacy feature is coming soon on Whatsapp. As part of bringing new features, WhatsApp has announced that it would soon let users hide their online status. If the feature is enabled, then it will one of the significant additions to the messaging platform.
WaBetaInfo spotted the new feature in the 126.96.36.199 Android beta version of WhatsApp and shared its screenshot. It appears in the Settings Menu – Account – Privacy. At the top of the screen, you will find the option “Last viewed and viewed online”. You need to tap on the feature to access it.
Normally WhatsApp gives ‘Last Seen’ hide options to the users, and the options include Everyone, My Contacts, My Contacts except, and Nobody. Two options will be available in the online section and it will be Everyone and Same as last seen. So, if you want your online status from everyone, then you will have to select “Nobody” in Last Seen section and “Same as last seen” in the online status part.
According to a recent WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is now readying a feature that will let you hide your online status from your contacts. The feature was first spotted in a beta build of WhatsApp for iOS a few weeks ago and it has now made its way to the Android app on the beta channel. Although it is not live in the latest WhatsApp beta release (v188.8.131.52), WABetaInfo has managed to grab the following screenshot of the in-development feature.
