Big blow : SC disallows compensatory tariff to Adani and Tata Power.

Putting an end to decade-long speculation if power companies are entitled to charge ‘compensatory tariff’’ from consumers, the Supreme Court  today hammered  a clear NO.

It started in 2010 when Indonesia made changes in trade regulations  affecting importers Adani Power and Tata Power, who made bulk coal purchases there for their multi-million power projects in Gujarat

The two companies claimed that the competitive bids were won on conditions  prior to Indonesia’s changed regulations.

However Apex Court ruled that the altered situation was not a happening in India, hence no compensatory tariff could be levied from users here.
