Sania Mirza gives birth to baby boy

Sports power couple Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik welcomed their first child, a baby boy.

“Excited to announcee: Its a boy and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumduliah,” former cricket captain tweeted.

Sania has largely kept away from the Tennis field and been rather active posing pictures on social media, through different stages of her pregnancy.

She even got a photoshoot done with baby bump, showcasing how much she enjoyed the phase.

Shaoib on the other hand kept busy with cricketing responsibilities.

Though the rumours were rife in the initial stages, Shaoib had denied them categorically until later months.

Sania had said earlier that the baby would have names of both father and mother, contrary to the tradition of the child carrying the father’s surname.

Sania herself did not change her surname after marriage and continues to carry her father’s name Mirza.

Rape charges : Cristiano Ronaldo omitted from Portugal squad for upcoming matches

Following rape accusation, the soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, has been left out of Portugal’s squad for upcoming friendlies against Poland and Scotland.

Portugal is set take on Poland on 11 October and Scotland three days later.

Ronaldo is accused of raping a woman, Kathryn Mayorga, in  a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009. Her suit says he raped her while she repeatedly screamed “no” and “stop” several times.

Back then, Mayorga says, the 33-year–old star took advantage of her fragile emotional state and coerced her into signing a settlement and nondisclosure agreement in 2009. She claims to have received $3,75,000 in exchange for her silence. She filed a suit on Friday, 29 Sept, to render the agreement void.

Las Vegas police said on Monday, they have reopened the criminal investigation last month.

Ronaldo denied allegations and in a live Instagram post on Friday said the woman’s claims to be fake.

In a more vehement denial and irk over the scandal he later said “Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.”

Mayorga’s lawyer said she was emboldened to speak out because of the #MeToo movement.

SC opens Punjab minister Sidhu’s road rage case; Could face jail

New Delhi : The Supreme court will reopen a 1998 road rage case against Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, in which a man died following a parking lot brawl. The apex court has sent the cricketer-turned politician a notice, asking him to show cause why it should not convict him with a harsher sentence.

The move comes on the back of plea, submitted by the victim’s family, against Sidhu being let of with just a nominal fine of Rs 1,000.

On 27 December, 1998, Sidhu and his friend, Rupinder Singh Sandhu, got into an argument with the victim, Gurnam Singh, over parking space in Patiala. The two allegedly hit Gurnam after dragging him out of his car.

The trial court acquitted Sidhu however, the Hariyana High Court held him guilty and handed out a three-year jail term.

Sidhu then approached Supreme Court where the bench suspended the sentence and granted him bail, thus making him eligible to contest bypolls in Amritsar.

Earlier this year, a bench headed by Justice Chalemeswar and Sanjay Kishan Kaul let the two off with a fine of Rs 1,000, for lack of concrete evidence that the victim died “by the single blow” .
