Indian-origin pregnant woman killed in arrow attack in UK; Baby survives

A pregnant woman of Indian origin in London, was killed after her former partner shot an arrow that pierced through her abdomen, on Monday.

The baby was delivered through Caesarean section carried out without removing the arrow, as “it was too dangerous”. The baby is critical and is battling for life at the hospital.

Devi Ummathallegadoo known locally as Sana Muhammad after converting to Islam had married Imtiaz Muhammad around seven years ago.

“She was a wonderful mother and wife. We were together seven years. I am heartbroken; we were inseparable,” Imtiaz Muhammad told the reporters.

Imtiaz was at home when he noticed the attacker, Ramanodge Ummathallegadoo in their shed with a loaded crossbow.

He alerted his wife and children but Sana got shot in the abdomen soon after.

Miraculously, the arrow went up into her heart bud did not touch the unborn baby.

Ramanodge has been taken into custody to be produced before magistrate court in London today.

Sana had three children aged 18, 14 and 12 with her former partner and two young girls aged five and two with Muhammad.
